Goals and Objectives
  1. CVFM will attract and retain professionals and organizations from the public and private sectors with an interest in ITS technology for commercial vehicles and freight mobility.
  2. CVFM will endeavor to elevate safety and security standards in the commercial vehicle and freight sectors through the promotion of ITS technologies.
  3. CVFM will support ITS business development opportunities within and outside its membership, ranging from global industry trends to smaller specific projects.
  4. CVFM will provide regular networking opportunities in the Commercial Vehicle and freight arena to ITS professionals from all sectors.
  5. CVFM will take an active role in shaping ITS standards, and regulations. .
  6. CVFM will advocate for governance policies and legislation that promote improved Commercial Vehicle safety, mobility and operational efficiencies using ITS technologies
  7. CVFM will endeavor to ensure that any ITS program that has or requires a commercial vehicle or freight mobility component gets full life-cycle support including system evaluation.
  8. CVFM will advocate for research and development initiatives that support the use of ITS in the commercial vehicle and freight mobility sectors and promote access to and analysis of system performance data.
  9. CVFM will identify research requirements focused on how ITS technologies can positively affect Commercial Vehicle risk reduction (improving safety of individual assets) and risk avoidance (strategies on how assets are better deployed and how improved operational efficiencies are achieved). It will actively pursue funding opportunities to meet objectives.

  • Policy and Position Statement(s) by 6/1
    • Identify research requirements focused on how ITS technologies can positively affect CV risk reduction (improving safety of individual assets) and risk avoidance (strategies on how assets are better deployed and how improved operational efficiencies are achieved). It will actively pursue funding opportunities to meet objectives.

    • Take an active role in shaping ITS standards, regulations and legislation through both the ITS-America organization and as a standalone group.

    • Endeavor to ensure that any ITS program that has or requires a commercial vehicle or freight mobility component gets full life-cycle support.

  • Webinar Series – Recruiting Expert Speakers
    • Support ITS business development opportunities within and outside its membership, from both big-picture industry trends to smaller specific projects.

    • Endeavor to elevate safety and security standards in the commercial vehicle and freight sectors through the promotion of ITS technologies.

  • Capitol Hill Event in September – organize a CVFM angle and presence
    • Advocate for research and development initiatives that support the use of ITS in the commercial vehicle and freight mobility sectors.

    • Advocate for governance policies that promote improved CV safety and operational efficiencies using ITS technologies

  • ITS America Annual Meeting – 2012 and 2013
    • Attract and retain professionals and organizations from the public and private sectors with a vested interest in ITS technology for commercial vehicles and freight mobility.

    • Provide regular networking opportunities in the CV and freight sectors to ITS professionals from all sectors.
